The Mediterranean Ice Cream, created by Fragoleto, won the 7th edition of the Intermarché National Production Prize in the "Packaging Innovation" category..

The Mediterranean ice cream, made from the Algarve's typical dried fruits - carob, almond, hazelnut and fig - won the 7th edition of the Intermarché National Production Award in the "Innovation in Packaging" category. The organic ice cream Mediterrânico, made with dry fruits typical of Algarve - carob bean, almond, hazelnut, fig - won the 7th edition of the Intermarché Prize for National Production in the "Innovation in Packaging" category. A distinction that results not only from this delicious combination of flavours, but also from the fact that this Fragoleto ice cream reaches the consumer in 400 ml isothermal boxes, which are 100% compostable. In other words, this container is totally organic.

At the same time it should be noted that the mediterranean ice cream complies with all the social sustainability concerns that the Fragoleto brand has been putting into its activity. The raw materials are 100% Portuguese and organic, thereby reducing the CO2 footprint to a minimum and helping to generate wealth for a network of local producers. For example, the carob beans come from the Algarve, the hazelnuts are bought from a producer in Beira Baixa and the figs and almonds come from Trás-os-Montes. As a corollary to this strategy of favouring national raw materials, in 2020 the mediterranean ice cream acquired the"Portugal Sou Eu” (I am Portugal) official stamp in 2020. This is not the first time that Mediterranean Ice Cream has been distinguished by a jury. In 2018, this organic ice cream from Fragoleto won the Portuguese edition of the Gelato Festival and will represent Portugal in the European final due to take place in 2021.
